By Bryan on May 3, 2010 | Computer Security, Yahoo! Messenger, worm, Spyware Doctor
A new worm was noticed on Yahoo! Messenger. It tends to infect user's computer and gains to reach private information of yours.
The user will receive from their friend a message which includes a link pretending to be an image link. If you choose to click on it, worm will send a malicious and dangerous file. Moreover, downloading this rogue file will cause you serious problems and more infections onto your computer, because malware then continues to send fake links to accounts in the user‘s friend list. That is how user's account become a source to distribute malicious links to other users.
This is not a new way for malwares to sneak into the system, but this is always potentially dangerous to unawareness users. Attackers are clever and usually knows how to trick user into thinking their computers are infected. They have written malware distributing the rogue links as image links. The downloaded malicious file itself is also disguised as an image file.
We suggest Yahoo! Messenger users to be especially careful with what types of files they are opening and do not lose their vigilance. Even if the trouble is on the way it isn't needed to panic, because there are reputable security software that can help you deal with malicious programs.
