Today, on October 4, Apple is going to have a conference in which it is expected to reveal new iPhone5GS. A rumor reached its peak and scammers have been already using this to make their victims fall for this scam.
Malware creators released rogue email in which the new iPhone5GS is advertised and computer users are forced to click on a fake link into the email. This will lead you to Windows executable.
Advertised iphone5.gif.exe file is hosted on a compromised server. Once downloaded, the file shows bogus iPhone5GS image while an IRC bot is installed into users PC. This will connect to a remote server.
F-Secure comments: „Infected machines can be centrally controlled via this server and are exposed to things such as credit card theft. In fact, the malware contains this text inside it: 'I wanna be a billionaire so frickin bad!‘“
