Facebook and Twitter are Targets of Spammers Again

Two of the biggest social networks were targeted at once. This time scammers have chosen Facebook and Twitter. Theirs’ ever growing popularity is great background for cyber criminals to spread malware and trick computer users into spending their money for illegal programs.

TrendLabs received emails of Facebook and Twitter spam. An email which pretends as a Facebook advertisement uses adult-themed strings to convince user into opening an attachment. An attachment contains .zip file which is named as Twitter.zip. This file contains another one called twitter.html. Trend Micro detects it as js_redir.ae which is dangerous for your computer.

Twitter is also becoming a means of spreading spam. This time it was noticed malicious .PDF and .EXE files detected as Troj_pidief.jcs and Troj_small.lec . However a Trend Micro product user, Smart Protection Network blocks the rogue files from running on users computers.
