iTunes is the latest target for cybercriminals. They’ve tried to steal credit card information as usual for phishing attacks.

This time iTunes victims have received a letter which let them know that users have made an exquisite purchase on iTunes. Firstly, without even knowing that the user didn’t purchase anything they are concerned with the received e-mail letter.

In a provided letter there is a link which supposedly will resolve the problem if you click on it. The link is rogue. It is not surprising that iTunes users may try to resolve this problem because their vigilance is shattered.

The user is also asked to download fake PDF file post clicking the link. This leads to a fictitious web page which is infected with the Zeus Trojan. The trojan is designed to steal personal data from users that fall for these scams.

Luis Corrons, Technical Director of PandaLabs, says that phishing attacks are nothing new. „What never ceases to surprise us is that the techniques used to trick victims continue to be so simple, but the design and content is so very well-orchestrated. It's very easy to fall into the trap. When using services such as iTunes, it is absolutely crucial that users never go to the website via email, but rather from the platform itself where they can verify their account status,“- he added.

The main advice that security researchers give to computer users is to be wary of every email and every link they receive. It is recommended to check and be sure of the reliability of any information user gets. To make your computer is safe you should use security software on your PC and update it quite often.
