As Valentine's Day is almost here, scammers are searching ways to make profit for their selves from unwary users that fall for rogue advertisements, offers and unexpected gifts that supposedly are given to you for free.
One of such frauds was noticed today on Tumblr. This fraud is circulating on the site and is spamming $500 Victoria’s Secret giftcards to all its followers. Spammers already liked Tumblr as their perfect space to spread bogus links, malware and other hints that may affect users and make them fall for bogus things that scammers use for their malicious intentions. So, the recent Tumblr post pretends being "Tumblr Staff Blog" and promises gifts after clicking the link.
After the link is clicked, user is taken to the site and is offered to fill credit card information. One of those promising rogue messages reads:
“Two reward offers from each of the silver and gold page options and nine reward offers from the platinum reward page and refer three friends to do the same.”
It is strongly recommended to be careful and do not fall for some unknown and unwelcome messages that promises and guarantees freebies for getting your private information. If you are shopping online, be vigilant about offers you are getting because scammers have no boundaries and do everything it takes to gain their purpose which is... money!
