MAC Defender: Rogue security software invades peoples’ computers

Apple's Mac OS X has been targeted with so called rogue MAC Defender program. It pretends to be a legitimate computer protection application.
This tricky and annoying fake antivirus program will create fabricated warning messages that will confuse user. These security alerts state user’s computer is compromised and needs to be cleaned with “registered” version of the application. For this user will be asked to hand over their credit card details.
However, this can be not enough for the cybercriminals, so MAC Defender will start popping up pornographic websites that will create a serious problem on the system.
Malware spreads via numerous websites as a fake anti-virus scan when victim clicks on links. MAC Defender is sneaky fictitious antispyware application which will initiate computer scans. It checks the web browser settings to find out if the user using Mac OS X or Microsoft Windows and then automatically downloads necessary installer for the user‘s system.
Bogus system tool appears as a menu bar item in OS X. However, you can avoid being infected more with this scam by not clicking on provided links and refuse any offer it gives you. Do not purchase it or give any credit card details. If infected use security software to get rid of this malware.
