Malicious Advertising on Facebook's Farm Town

According to recently news popular Facebook's game Farm Town is spreading advertisements that display rogue warnings and threats. This is its way into forcing users to install malware by paying small fees for supposedly legal security tool.

“We are aware and have reported to the developers that many of our players have encountered the malware/spyware while on the FarmTown Site. We believe at this time that it is harmless to your computer and a result of one or more of the ads on the site, but you should NOT follow any links to any software claiming to “clean your system.”

If you suddenly get a warning that your computer is infected with viruses and you MUST run this scan now, DO NOT CLICK ON THE LINK, CLOSE THE WINDOW IMMEDIATELY. You should then run a full scan with your anti-virus program to ensure that any stray parts of this malware are caught and quarantined,“ said Sophos' Graham Cluley on his blog .

It looks like that the latest AV 7 application is the first malware which tries to trick Facebook's Farm Town users. An advertisements that claim your PC is infected with malicious programs and offers to “fix” the problem for you usually is malware itself. You have to ignore those fake security issues and terminate the malware.
