Hurricane Irene hits Facebook

It’s not a big shock that scammers use Facebook as their most lovable way to spread scams. This time they are using hurricane Irene for their malicious intentions. One scam was found by Trend Micro fraud analyst Karla Agregado. She spotted a video which forces users watch it by providing intriguing title: “VIDEO SHOCK – Hurricane Irene New York kills All.“ This scam was spread towards Italian Facebook users because they were first to know how to share the link on their Wall. Fictitious "Update your browser" warning

A new scareware is on the web pretending to be Mozilla Firefox browser update. Here's a fake message that the rogue browser update notification reads:Update your browserThis page does not support your version of browserPlease update your softwareBrowser updateThis attack can be successful against Internet users who use old and out-of-date web browsers. Moreover, there are several web browsers that are safer to use because of JavaScript which informs users about out-of-date web browser. Read more.
Malware targets Android marketplace

Recently the love lure malware appeared as a “love test” application, an ebook reader, and a location tracker aiming to target Android users. This rogue application is available via third-party app stores in China. This fake program should be noticed quite easily because it usually asks more than the one normal and legitimate program would ask user to do. Be careful of rogue programs’ family spreading in the web

It seems like scammers are not resting and creating new family of rogues that gains to force users into believing their “legitimacy”. As common for malware it spreads via trojan horses that come to the system through their flaws. Basic things these rogue programs do, they try to convince users’ that their computer is severely compromised.
