A dangerous Ramnit worm was designed to steal financial data and to infect various files. It has been around since April of 2010 and now Ramnit started to steal Facebook login credentials.

Researchers of security company Seculert has discovered that this dangerous worm had already sent 45,000 credentials to command and control servers. Mostly of them are from France and UK Facebook users.

Researchers commented: "We suspect that the attackers behind Ramnit are using the stolen credentials to log-in to victims' Facebook accounts and to transmit malicious links to their friends, thereby magnifying the malware's spread even further."

Once the Facebook login and passwords have been collected, it is suspected that the victim's account then is accessed and link is posted on Facebook profile that leads to Ramnit which will try and infect the computer. "We suspect that they use these credentials to continuously spread the Ramnit malware through Facebook," researcher from Seculert said.
