It's not very surprising that December and January are the months of the most phishing scams circulating on the web. Because of the holiday season scam creators are trying to gain tricking computer users for their malicious intentions. Usually these kinds of attempts are infecting their computer with malware, spreading fake links or asking to fill various surveys for getting their potential victims' credit card information.
At this time of year people are buying or returning gifts they don't want to keep. Knowing this feature cybercriminals are creating numerous phishing scams for getting money from unwary users.
Recently noticed various phishing attempts through the most phished brand PayPal. The most common way is a rogue message "Your account is blocked/limited, login here to unlock" or the alarm signal that someone ordered something in your name and you must stop the order.

Those fake messages usually contain fictitious links or buttons that hijacks you to rogue web pages that are designed to force you into giving credit card information. It is highly recommended to check URLs legitimacy before clicking and make sure your computer has up-to-date security software.
