At the end of the year Adobe plans to release their new version of Adobe Reader which will have a huge protection from hackers.
Program upgrade to Reader 10 will have a special feature which is already used by Microsoft and Google in their programs. The sandbox method is expected to be like walls for attackers attempt to make damage for users computers and personal data.
Adobe Reader has been already tested its products a lot because they have found difficulties in constant attacks of the scammers. Reader has experience in patching programs’ vulnerabilities because hackers found it interesting to test Reader’s exploits. Adobe Reader had to put an effort improving security of their applications especially PDF documents because they are the most vulnerable.
With the new Reader 10 upgrade which contains sandbox method Adobe expects to stop the scammer if they try to get in the document or program. The sandbox feature will not let attacker to get further because the new security system works like a customhouse.
However, sandbox has to let the regular functions too, such as saving files and etc. In this case sandbox method has the opportunity to communicate with the file system but this goes through the broker. The broker will check carefully if this action is available and it will prevent damage to the particular program or documents that might be at risk.
Brad Arkin, Adobe's director for product security and privacy comments: „Reader 10 represents a dramatic increase in defense such that none of the attacks against Reader known up until now will work in the same way against the application. Bad guys and researchers won't give up because this is an exciting challenge. The reward for finding out a flaw is quite high. We think there is going to be lots of attention here.“
