By Bryan on July 16, 2009 | Malware, Worm
Conficker.E is the most famous computer infection of the last two years. It is widely spread around the world and it distributes other malware.
Conficker.E worm spreads via Windows vulnerabilities. It also infects network shares and removable media. The latest version of this malware “updates” earlier variants of Conficker. This makes the parasite even more dangerous, because the newer infection is the more difficult it is to remove using security tools.
The main purpose of Conficker.E is joining infected computers to a botnet, but the worm also has other functions. It disables security programs and prevents people from downloading new tools. It deletes System Restore points and in some cases it corrupts system processes. Conficker.E also prevents people from visiting websites related to computer safety. The worm enables secret remote connection too.
Conficker.E may install Waledac trojan , Spyware Protect 2009 fraud and other malware.
