If you recognize these phrases you'll probably get spam email letter because those are the most common queries found in our email accounts. Because of the holidays such email letters are more frequent than at other time of year.
Here are few tips of how to protect yourself from giving money to cyber criminals:
1. Unsubscribe. This step is easy to take and sometimes can help because "Unsubscribe" link is ate the bottom of your email letter which clicked will delete your email address from the list of unwanted senders. Many users are leaving this unseen because they expect to have that perfect offer that is send to you.
2. Alternate Email Addresses. It is recommended to have another email account for one time services that you need to have which inquire email address to enter. It is quite perfect for such service to create email account not using well known "hotmail" or "yahoo".
3. Spam protection. You can have a third-party service or plug-in that integrates with your computer or email client to seek-and-destroy spam messages that tries to get to your email. This will help for those whose email has been earlier compromised.
4. Legitimacy of the site. You have to know the site for being sure that your information will not be used for malicious intentions. If you are in doubt about a page you are redirected, make a quick search to make sure you are not fooled.
So, you need to be very vigilant on online shopping, clicking on links you get within email letters and always make sure your computer has up-to-date security software.
