Source Code is Stolen By Hackers

George Kurtz, McAfee's chief technology officer, announced about the attack against software configuration management products. According to security vendor McAfee, which released a report, in some of these attacks software source code was accessed by hackers. These attacks were targeted to company engineers and technical staff. It was done by malicious software. According to Kurtz, source code management systems were accessed and code was downloaded outside of company firewalls. Read more.
Mariposa Botnet is Closed and Attackers Are Arrested

Spanish executive arrested three men that had Mariposa botnet under control. It is thought that Mariposa controlled 12.7 million computers over the world. Three arrested people all are Spanish citizens: "netkairo," 31; "jonyloleante," 30 and "ostiator," 25. According to these handles police was able to identify them. Mariposa appeared to be one of the most largest botnets over the world. It took over millions of computers and not all of them are already clean. Read more.
Microsoft's Final Battle Against Waledac Spam Bot

US federal judge let Microsoft to kill Waledac botnet, one of the Internet's worst sources of spam. Microsoft announced that 277 .com domains will be cut off with a court order. Waledac has been a major source of computer infections and spam over the 2009. Microsoft claims the botnet can send over 1.5 billion spam messages over one day. In a lawsuit against the unknown spammers behind Waledac Microsoft argued that Verisign is a choke-point for the botnet. Read more.
China Posted Regulations

They declare that website operators will need to provide their photographs and meet the Internet service providers for consulting about a new course of all sites in the country.The regulations, which were posted on sites of the Chinese telecom regulator on Monday, demand ISPs to meet people who would like to register new websites and take their photographs. Facebook Gold Account Scam

Attention: there is no Facebook Gold account. The new scam is released and do not fall for it. This is attacker's way of seeking a quick profit. Facebook pages have been set up with names like “GET YOUR UPGRADE WHILE THEIR FREE!!” Moreover, it promises a simple use of the account and freedom from advertisements. However, bogus Facebook Gold account looks like a real one, but actually the spelling error in the page title is a clue that account is a fake. Read more.
